Description: Daisy Kutter has left behind her old life of robbing trains and getting in trouble. Her partner, Tom, is now the sheriff of the town. When two cons get her to bet all her money and her general story against a Mr. Winters in a game of poker, she loses it all and is forced into one last train robbery. Mr. Winters has made the newest security robots and safes and wants the famous Daisy Kutter to attempt to get past them. Daisy reluctantly agrees to this scheme and soon finds herself in deeper than she could ever imagine as it seems Mr. Winter isn’t too keen on paying up and instead wants to make sure Daisy ends up dead.
Opinion: Kibuishi is all over the place—Cooper, The Amulet, etc. He’s done a lot of recently popular graphic novels. Daisy is an older one and is interesting because it is a western with robots (so a science fiction angle). Daisy is a bad ass girl who takes nothing from anyone—a true heroine. Even though there is some violence it isn’t graphically done so the story can work with younger readers. It is an enjoyable, quick read.
