Description:
Victor and Scott are trying to help Ben learn about what happened to the
members of MOP. When they finally receive a message they meet up with a young
girl, Jaime, who informs them that the MOP custodians are disappearing all over
the world, including her parents. They soon uncover a sinister plot involving
the Mysterious Emperor who is controlling other famous scientists, including
the newly reawakened Wright Brothers who are displaying some startling symptoms
reminiscent of vampires. But vampires don’t exist do they? Soon many of the
townsfolk are talking about large bats in the night sky and the mayor herself
appears to be under a spell. Can Victor, Scott, and Ben stop a sinister plan
from becoming a reality?
Opinion: First,
I actually love the format of this book! It is slim but there is a black square
border around every page set-up kind of like an old-fashioned journal. It
actually says “page” on the bottom. There are illustrations included throughout
the book and at the beginning of every chapter. Since Ben is a scientist lots
of things they discuss (like the machine that kept him in suspended animation)
are drawn up as scientific diagrams and charts. I like how this series is
combining the historical with fiction and supernatural elements. The third
entry they will encounter Thomas “Deadison”—I wonder if he’ll be a zombie!
